Graduate Training Programme

The Society, with support from EPSRC, organises a programme of training aimed at postgraduates, primarily those in the first or second years of their PhDs.  The programme, which is usually based around two one-week courses each year, is designed to strengthen the mathematical foundations of tomorrow's statistical researchers through a series of courses on the theoretical underpinnings of the subject.

Two one-week courses will be offered in 2007:

University College London, 2-6 July

Modules:

Multiscale methods and Statistical modelling of non-stationary time series

Fundamentals of statistical theory

University of Sheffield, 3-7 September

Modules:

Fundamentals of Statistical causality

Bayesian Statistics

Each course will be taught in a combination of lectures and workshops or tutorial sessions.

Funding is available from the EPSRC to support 30 subsidised places for courses.

Applicants for places should complete an application form and submit this together with their CV.

Please note that the courses run from Monday morning through to Friday morning (accommodation is provided for 5 nights from Sunday night).  Students must take both modules within each course.
