There is a small team of staff based in our head office in Errol Street, London.
Hetan is responsible for the overall strategy and management of the Royal Statistical Society. His previous roles have included running the national charity 'Think Global' and senior think tank roles. His interests include evidence informed policymaking, big data, international development and sustainability. Hetan is visiting senior research fellow at the Kings Policy Institute, Kings College London. He is chair of the Friends Provident Foundation and a non executive director of the Higher Education Statistics Agency. He is an Honorary Vice-President of the Geographical Association and is on the Steering Group of the Natural Capital Initiative. Hetan is also a member of the National Statistician's Data Ethics Committee.
Nicola directs the work of the Membership and Professional Affairs team, which includes all aspects of membership administration, member benefit delivery and professional development. Nicola has held a variety of roles during her career at the Society, and is currently focussing on delivery of the membership strategy with particular emphasis on membership growth, retention and engagement. Before joining us, Nicola worked for a number of voluntary sector organisations and has gained a Master’s degree in voluntary sector management.
Roeland directs the policy work and the external relations of the Society. This includes oversight for the policy development and associated research across a range of topics including education, official statistics and data policy. He also oversees our public affairs portfolio, covering stakeholder relations, parliamentary affairs, press and media and external communications, including Significance Magazine. Before joining us he led on household survey and Census development at the Office for National Statistics. Roeland studied statistics and survey methodology in Belgium and started his career at the University of Leuven, where he conducted electoral and survey methodology research.
Kerry is an experienced marketing professional, having spent many years operating at a senior level in advertising and marketing/communications agencies. More recently, she has held operational marketing roles in the charity sector. This mix of strategic and operational, corporate and not-for-profit means she’s well qualified to oversee the Royal Statistical Society’s commercial services: training courses, events and venue hire. She also works closely with the membership team, providing marketing input to the membership strategy. Kerry is an advisor to the charity, the Progress Educational Trust.
