Speakers included Hal Varian (Google), Martine Durand (OECD), David Hand (Imperial College) and Anthony Davison (EPFL). Andrew Dilnot, chair of the UK Statistics Authority gave a keynote address.

    2007 conference – University of York, 17-20 July

    The theme was ‘Statistics and public policy-making: hope vs reality’. It addressed a wide range of issues, looking at how statistical science impacts on the way government policy is set and monitored in the UK and internationally.


    2006 conference Queen’s University Belfast, 10-14 September

    The conference was on a general theme but included plenary and invited speakers on key topics.

    2005 conference – Cardiff, 18 - 21 July

    Joint conference with Statisticians in the Pharmaceutical Industry.
    The theme was Statistics in healthcare.
