Statisticians for Society
Statisticians for Society is an initiative which brings together professional statisticians and other data science professionals to third sector organisation that are in need of statistical expertise at no cost. Since the establishment of Statisticians for Society, the RSS has supported over 200 third sector organisations, empowering them to use data more effectively and helping them fulfil their charitable aims and objectives.
How can statisticians and data science professionals help third sector organisations?
While many third sector organisations understand the value of data and evidence, many are not able to afford the cost to access statistical expertise to gather data or process existing datasets.
Statisticians and data professionals have the essential skills and expertise to fill the gap for these charities. They are able to collect, analyse and present data across a range of industries and topics. They are able to use different methods and tools in gathering and analysing data to transform into meaningful insights, making evidence-based conclusions, enabling them to support charities that do not have access to this skill set.
Through Statisticians for Society, over 200 statisticians and other data science professionals have empowered many organisations to use data in making better decisions and service improvements based on evidence, and to fully demonstrate the value of their work.
