Series A: Statistics in Society

Journal Series A front cover
Looks at how statistical thinking, design and analyses play a vital role in all walks of life and benefit society. Subject-matter is not restricted. For example, medicine, business and commerce, industry, economics and finance, education and teaching, physical and biomedical sciences, the environment, the law, government and politics, demography, psychology, sociology and sport all fall within its remit. The journal's emphasis is on clearly written quantitative approaches to problems in the real world rather than the exposition of technical detail. Of particular interest are papers on topical or contentious statistical issues, papers which give reviews or exposés of current statistical concerns and papers contributing to our understanding of important substantive questions. Historical, professional and biographical contributions are also published, as are discussions of methods of data collection and of ethical issues.
Published 4 times a year by Wiley-Blackwell for the Society

Series B: Statistical Methodology

Front Cover of Journal Series B
Publishes work that is at the leading edge of methodological development, with a strong emphasis on relevance to statistical practice. Included are papers on study design, statistical models, methods of analysis and the theory that underlies them almost invariably motivated or illustrated by real examples. Aims to disseminate work which is innovative, insightful and likely to have a substantial impact on the way that data are collected and analysed; within these parameters the journal's scope is broad, embracing for example relevant work in applied probability, computational methods and the foundations of statistics.
Published 5 times a year by Wiley-Blackwell for the Society

Series C: Applied Statistics

Journal Series C front cover
Concerned with papers looking at novel solutions to real life statistical problems. The papers are motivated by practical examples and statistical data of all kinds, rather than methodological developments. The subject-matter covers the whole range of interdisciplinary fields, e.g. applications in agriculture, genetics, industry, medicine and the physical sciences. Papers make a novel contribution to statistics by adapting or developing methodology, or by demonstrating the proper application of new or existing statistical methods. A deep understanding of statistical methodology is not necessary to appreciate the content. Although papers describing developments in statistical computing are within its scope, the journal is not concerned with brief numerical illustrations or simulation studies. The emphasis is on statistical analyses in practice.
Published 5 times a year by Wiley-Blackwell for the Society.
