'Which way now?' Careers – Which Way Now?
Wednesday 7th March 1pm-2.15pm
Location: Medical Sciences A V Hill Lecture Theatre, Gower Street, London, WC1
Speakers include:
- Introduction (Professor Valerie Isham, Dept of Statistical Sciences, UCL and President of the Royal Statistical Society)
- 'Careers for statisticians', An introduction to the new RSS careers website which features up-to-date information about the range of careers available with statistics. The new website features videos, case studies and much more (Roeland Beerten, Director, Professional and Public Affairs, Royal Statistical Society)
- 'Meet the Professionals' Two working statisticians will give an introduction to their work and how they have developed their careers (Allan Hackshaw Cancer Research UK & UCL Cancer Trials Centre, Cancer Institute, UCL and Jakub Chalupczak (BSc Statistics UCL) Underwriting Graduate RSA Group)
- 'The RSS and you: how the RSS can help you in your career' (Sarah Barker, Professional Affairs Office, Royal Statistical Society)
School Events
Lectures
A lecture aimed at sixth form and GCSE students that draws out the importance and widespread applicability of statistics in a serious but accessible and entertaining way. Previous year's lectures are still available.
RSS Schools Lecture (Guy Lecture)
The official delivery of the lecture takes place at a school once in the year, and it is available for repeat deliveries at any other schools that request it. Previous year's lectures are also available
