RSS teacher associate membership

Teachers in schools and colleges are invited to become teacher associate members of the Royal Statistical Society

The Royal Statistical Society (RSS) is the leading Society and professional body for statistics in the UK and a forum for everybody with an interest in statistics. We welcome secondary and primary teachers of Statistics in Mathematics, the Sciences and Social Sciences as teacher associate members.

Statistics is a life skill. Our vision is of a society in which all citizens can use and interpret data to make evidence-informed decisions and solve problems in the workplace and in all aspects of their lives. Confident and meaningful statistics teaching and learning across the curriculum in all phases of education will turn that  vision into a reality:  delivering new generations of statistically literate school leavers well equipped for work and/or to embark on further study on the many courses which require statistical skills.

Benefits of RSS teacher associate membership include:

  • an inclusive subscription to Significance, a bi-monthly magazine
  • 6 RSS NEWS newsletters across the year
  • RSSeNews, an online news and information service
  • a range of meetings on statistical topics which you are entitled to attend
  • information on the RSS's annual residential conference, often with discounts/grants for teachers
  • careers information and resources for teachers and students interested in studying the subject to a professional level
  • updates, information and discounts on CPD: RSS Professional Development Centre courses and RSS Centre for Statistical Education programmes and Teachers Days
  • discounts on subscriptions to publications such as Teaching Statistics, a journal for teachers of 5-19 year olds across the curriculum
  • discounts on books from statistical publishers in RSS NEWS and Significance
  • updates on the RSS-led getstats campaign to boost statistical literacy in a society, economy and culture awash with data.
