Governance & Charter
Charter and Bye-Laws
The Society's Charter and Bye-Laws establish the overall governance structure of the Society. Following the merger of Royal Statistical Society and the Institute of Statisticians in 1993, the 1887 Charter was redrafted to secure EU recognition of UK professional statistical qualifications.
A new supplemental Charter was eventually approved by the Queen in Council on 20 September 2005 and came into effect on 1 April 2006. The current Bye-Laws date from 1 April 2007.
Regulations
The Council of the Society draw up regulations that set out the detailed rules and procedures for the implementation of the Bye-Laws.
Use of the RSS Fellows’ Suite including Conduct of Members
These rules are in addition to the RSS Charter, Bye-Laws and Regulations, collectively known as (the ‘Charter’).
