BURISA officially stands for the 'British Urban and Regional Information Systems Association', but we have never let that bother us unduly!
It is an informal, non-profit making unincorporated association of practitioners whose common interest is the use and management of information and the development of information systems for services to the public.
BURISA is run by a Board. Each member of the Board is co-opted in a personal capacity and gives his or her time voluntarily (but generally with the sponsorship of employers) to serve the aims of the Association.
BURISA aims to promote better communication between people concerned with information and information systems in local and central government, the health services, utilities and the academic world through its quarterly newsletter and annual conference. For further information, visit the BURISA website: http://www.burisa.org
BURISA is affiliated to the Royal Statistical Society (RSS) through its membership of the Statistics User Forum.
