Prizes for accredited university courses
The Royal Statistical Society offers annual prizes in respect of accredited university courses. A Department may submit nominations for, at most, one prize at postgraduate level and one prize at undergraduate level.
Prizewinners may be listed on pass-lists and degree congregation programmes, and elsewhere as appropriate, as recipients of a "Royal Statistical Society prize".
Each prize consists of one year's free Graduate Statistician membership of the Society. The Society will generate a letter of congratulation and a prize certificate and will send the prizewinner a Graduate Statistician application form.
Instructions for nominating prizewinners
A university having an accredited undergraduate course or courses is invited to submit each year the best graduate from any of the accredited courses for award of a Royal Statistical Society prize.
A university having an accredited postgraduate course or courses is invited to submit each year the best graduate from any of the accredited courses for award of a Royal Statistical Society prize.
Universities should not submit nominations if there are no candidates of high quality. For undergraduates, First Class Honours is normally required. For postgraduates, an MSc with Distinction (or an equivalent level of performance if the university does not award "with Distinction") is normally required.
The name, course and level of award of the nominee should be submitted to the Director of Education and Professional Affairs at the Society who will confirm whether or not the course is accredited and the nomination is acceptable. It will be sufficient for a nomination to be submitted by email (to r.beerten@rss.org.uk.)
