Applied Probability Section
The Applied Probability Section came into existence at the start of 2012 to help rejuvenate the Society's interests in the area. The objectives of the Section are to:
• Foster research in applied probability
• Bring together a community of researchers in applied probability within the RSS
• Support the outreach of applied probability research into both statistical science and wider application areas, both established and novel
The main activity of the Section is to organise loosely-themed meetings on aspects of Applied Probability.
The Section committee for 2012 is as follows:
Chair: David Leslie (Bristol)
Vice-chair: Amanda Turner (Lancaster)
Secretary: Ken Duffy (Hamilton Institute)
Meetings secretary: Stephen Connor (York)
Ordinary members: Alexandros Beskos (UCL), James Cruise (Heriot-Watt), Christina Goldschmidt (Oxford), Wilfrid Kendall (Warwick), Aleksandar Mijatovic (Imperial), Gareth Roberts (Warwick), Andrew Wade (Strathclyde)
