Maintained Professional Certificate (MPC)

As part of its policy for continuing professional development (CPD), the Society offers holders of Chartered Statistician (CStat) status (or, equivalently, MIS or FIS) the opportunity to apply periodically for a Maintained Professional Certificate (MPC). An MPC may be viewed as kind of periodic re-accreditation to attach to the lifetime award of CStat, as a recognition of having engaged in appropriate CPD. This will be of value to professionally qualified members who wish their CPD to be recognised formally.

Holders of CStat (or MIS or FIS) may apply for the award of an MPC on a five-yearly basis (or following achievement of a CPD profile corresponding to a full-time equivalent of five years), and are encouraged to do so.

Potential applicants should first consult the Society's CPD policy and are also advised to study the one-year CPD profiles that have been provided, anonymously, by Fellows of the Society to illustrate the types of CPD activity that are undertaken by statisticians at various stages of different careers. These are all available in the CPD section of our website.

Please follow this link to our MPC applicants notes for guidance and application form. These documents can also be obtained by post or email from us (please email qualifications@rss.org.uk).
