FHEQ

The Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) maintains an "academic infrastructure" that includes a Framework for Higher Education Qualifications in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. See http://www.qaa.ac.uk/academicinfrastructure/FHEQ/.

The QAA consulted in August 2008 on a draft second edition of the Framework. The Society's response was that the QAA's suggested descriptors of qualifications were unrealistic in that they were far too ambitious in respect of what could reasonably be expected from a graduate in the area of statistics at bachelor's, master's or doctoral level. In contrast, the Society would be comfortable with the Dublin Descriptors (for an explanation of these descriptors see 'A Framework for Qualifications of the European Higher Education Area' below) that underpin the Bologna Process. In the event, the new Framework showed little change from the draft except that the Dublin Descriptors were explicitly referred to.
