Salaries and opportunities for advancement

Salaries in most publicly funded research organisations are similar to those for a university lecturer. Outside the publicly funded research community, salaries will be very variable but, in general, environmental science does not attract the substantial support and funding which encourages high salary levels.

Greatest career advancement is likely for those who can provide innovative, practical solutions to applied problems and have the ability to attract and contribute to multidisciplinary projects.
