Who employs health service statisticians?
The organisation of the health service varies from country to country within the UK. Information is given on the National Health Service website. Statisticians are employed by bodies such as
-
NHS Trusts (acute, and primary care)
-
Strategic Health Authorities / Boards
-
Special Health Authorities.
Statisticians are also employed by the Department of Health (these statisticians are part of the Government Statistical Service).
In Northern Ireland, Personal Social Services are already run alongside the National Health Service, and this model is developing in the rest of the UK, so some health statistician posts may now come under the remit of local Care Services.
