How to locate job vacancies for lecturers

Advertisements for lectureships appear in newspapers; particularly important is the Times Higher Education Supplement. Advertisements also often appear in the news magazines of academic and professional organisations (such as RSS NEWS which is issued monthly to all members of the Royal Statistical Society).

Advertisements are also commonly found on websites and in electronic mailing lists. If you are seeking a lectureship, it might be helpful to look at some of the following websites from time to time:

Advertisements for lectureships can appear at any time, whenever a new lecturer is required at a university. However, the new recruit will often be expected to start at the beginning of the new academic year (usually September or October) or sometimes in January (this coincides with the commencement of the second term or semester).
