West Midlands
The West Midlands Local Group of the Royal Statistical Society arranges an annual programme of mostly general interest talks and sponsors statistical events intended to appeal to anyone with an interest in statistics and its applications. We hope that RSS members and other statistically-interested persons in the local area will join us – students of all ages and those whose professional work touches statistics and its applications are most welcome. There is a small fee for local membership of the Society and non-members are always welcome.
We hold six meetings a year, usually on a Thursday, from 5pm - 6pm, normally with tea or coffee before and wine and cheese afterwards. As a general rule, four of the meetings are held in the Statistics Department of the University of Warwick, and two at the University of Birmingham in association with the Midlands Hub for Trials Methodology Research. Meetings might also be held at Coventry University and at local company venues from time to time.
The subject matter of the talks is often suited to general statistical interest, mainly dealing with applied aspects of statistics and covering statistical areas of other subjects or areas adjacent to statistics. The current programme is available on the website.
Details of forthcoming meetings can be found on the calendar of events, see links on this page or on the main menu. To receive email notifications of future meetings, please email the Honorary Secretary (Peter.K-U.Kimani@warwick.ac.uk).
The above and further information on the group and its activities can be found on its webpage hosted by the Department of Statistics at the University of Warwick:
