‘It is the most important UK statistics conference’
‘(The conference is) good for a mixed audience – not just specialists or even statisticians’
Feedback from 2016 conference attendees.
The RSS conference provides a unique opportunity for anyone interested in data analysis and statistics to come together to share information and network.
Whatever your experience, field of expertise or background, the RSS conference provides an open forum to exchange knowledge and experiences, whether in the formal conference sessions or in the many networking opportunities at refreshment breaks and evening social events.
The conference regularly attracts around 500 participants from all over the world, ranging from senior academic statisticians through to new graduates and postgraduate students. There is also strong representation from the public sector as well as statisticians and data scientists working in industry or as independent consultants and a growing group of people who have an interest in statistics but who don’t work in the field.
The conference is popular to such a diverse audience because it offers a broad and varied programme of talks and workshops not found in any other UK based statistical conference.
We select a different UK location for our annual conference each year. Recent conferences have been in Sheffield, Exeter, Manchester and Glasgow.
Occasionally we hold one-off conferences on topical issues, run joint events with other organisations and offer support to conferences organised by outside bodies.
RSS members enjoy a discount to attend the annual conference and other events that we organise.
