How to join a webinar

Join online
When you open the link or select Join Microsoft Teams Meeting in your meeting invite, you’ll be taken to a page where you can choose to either join on the web or download the desktop app and then join. If you already have the Teams app, the meeting will open there automatically. If you don’t have a Teams account you will have the option to enter your name to join the meeting as a guest.

Be sure to give permissions to your microphone and camera, if asked.

Join by phone
Even if you don’t have internet access or the Teams app, you can join some meetings by phone. If it has a phone number and conference ID in the meeting invite, just dial to join. If you see a phone number in your invitation, but it’s not local to you, select Local numbers and find one that works for you.

Common issues and resolutions
I’m speaking and nobody can hear me.

  1. Make sure you are not muted. You can be muted in up to three places:
    • Your Teams application. Look for the microphone icon.
    • Your operating system, for example the Sound menu in Windows.
    • Your device itself, if you are using a headset with a mute button.
  2.  Check your audio device using the gear icon (Settings) in the top right corner of the Teams meeting. The drop-down under Audio Device should show the device you are using to connect to the meeting.

I can’t hear anyone.

  1. Make sure your speaker volume is turned up.
  2. Check your audio device using the gear icon (Settings) in the top right corner of the Teams meeting. The drop-down under Audio Device should show the device you are using to connect to the meeting.
People with visual impairments who use a screen reader program with Office products should refer to Microsoft’s accessibility support for Microsoft Teams.
