Merseyside local group is looking for new committee members

Members of the committee assist in the running of the RSS Merseyside Local Group by contributing ideas, helping organise and run events, attending meetings and representing the committee, handling web and social media presence, and networking with the wider RSS. We have up to 6 positions available and all are welcome to join across any professional sector and career stage (including students), as long as you hold an active membership as a fellow of the RSS.

The committee organises 3-4 events a year to actively engage the local statistical community and anyone with an interest in statistics. We aim to connect with all levels of statistical expertise, from academic staff and students to local organisations and industries, and even local schools. If you’re new to us, our events in the last year have included a panel discussion on career advice in data science, talks on statistical modelling and prediction and in football, and the William Guy Lecture on driving risks aimed at schools. We also regularly hold joint events with other organisations such as the University of Liverpool Maths School and the UK Data Service.

If you wish to express interest or discuss joining the committee, please contact us at merseysidelg@rss.org.uk by Sunday 31 October 2021, with a short paragraph (no more than 200 words) briefly summarising your background and why you would like to join the committee. Nominated committee members will be elected at our AGM in December.

The RSS is committed to ensuring an inclusive and welcoming environment for all who care about good data
