The Merseyside Local Group is looking for new members to volunteer to join our committee!

We organise 3-4 events a year to actively engage Merseyside's local statistical community and anyone with an interest in statistics. We aim to connect with all levels of statistical expertise, from academic staff and students to local organisations and industries, and even local schools. If you’re new to us, our events in the last year have included talks on use of Bayesian methods to analyse real-time data streams, a skills-based workshop on open data sources and how to access them, and an online event around data ethics and inclusive and equitable AI. We also regularly hold joint events with other organisations such as the University of Liverpool Maths School, HiPyLiv, and the UK Data Service. More information can be found at http://rss.org.uk/merseyside and you can experience some of our events through recordings on our YouTube channel.

Members of the committee assist in the running of the Local Group by contributing ideas, helping organise and run events, attending meetings and representing the committee, handling web and social media presence, and networking with the wider RSS. We have up to six spaces on the committee available and all are welcome to join across any professional sector and career stage (including students), as long as you hold an active membership as a fellow of the RSS.

If you wish to express interest or discuss joining the committee, please contact us at merseysidelg@rss.org.uk by 1st November 2022, with a short paragraph (no more than 200 words) briefly summarising your background and why you would like to join the committee.

The RSS is committed to ensuring an inclusive and welcoming environment for all who care about good data and statistics.
