The DEG section is pleased to be able to contribute to the RSS strategic goals and offer a further conduit for the development of professional ethics across data science practice in the UK and beyond. Our group seeks to foster and develop good relationships between statisticians, data scientists and other professionals responsible for the use of data and provide a forum for the discussion of emerging and contentious issues about how data can best be used to serve society.
We have 6-8 online committee meetings per year and organise seminars/workshops and other collaborative events each year, as well as responding to policy consultations and representing the RSS in external advisory groups and other meetings. We currently send a periodic newsletter about our policy interests and event plans which anyone can subscribe to.
