RSS Medical Section seeks new members

The Medical Section is seeking enthusiastic individuals to volunteer to join the Committee in 2024. For any statistician, academic or industry, that seeks to develop and support the application of statistical methods in all branches of medicine, the Medical Section has provided the following information:

We normally organise 4-5 public scientific meetings a year, as well as sessions at both the RSS and US Joint Statistical conferences. We also contribute to RSS discussion meetings, make nominations for RSS honours and awards, and have developed a podcast.

Being a member of the Committee is an opportunity to actively engage with others who are interested in the importance of medical statistics. We are particularly looking for people who are keen to contribute new ideas for Medical Section activities and to help organise events. Officer roles, such as Chair, Vice-chair, Secretary, or Meetings Secretary, are available, and we would be keen to hear from anyone who would be happy to represent us at discussion or publication network meetings.

We hold around four committee meetings per year, which can be attended in person at Errol Street, London (travel expenses paid), or remotely by teleconference.  Much of our core business is communicated over email.

If you would like to be considered for one of the committee positions, simply fill in the form at the following link with a paragraph (up to 250 words) summarising your background, why you’d like to join and what you will contribute to the committee (to be completed by 6pm on Friday 20th October 2023):
